It’s true. Makeup expires, so it’s important to use what you have. AKA don’t buy too much and don’t save it for special occasions. Wear and use what you have as soon as you buy it. This ensures the quality stays high, the formula stays fresh, and the application stays seamless. Here is a general guideline:
Mascara: 3-6 months
Cream or liquid foundation: 12-18 months
Powdered products: 18-24 months
Lipstick: 36 months
Liners: 2 years

There are lots of ways your makeup can harbor bacteria: your fingers, your brushes, sharing with friends (not recommended), and your own skin’s dead cells and oils. It’s another reason you don’t want your makeup sitting around for years and years.
